Paul and Adèle, frustrated extras in the Tristan and Isolde opera, take advantage of a break to set off in search of a subterranean lake beneath Palais Garnier. On the labyrinthine journey in the bowels of the opera house, they have a meandering discussion about love that will act on them as a magic potion, just like two Wagnerian heroes, as if it were impossible to escape from legends and myths.
