Meet the two 2026 residents of the very first edition of La Petite Fabrique, an international residency for African filmmakers.

Conceived as a three-step professional development program, this residency aims to support the growth of your short film project (live-action fiction), from the initial writing stage through to presenting its pitch to industry professionals as part of the Short Film Market.

Biography

Samuel CODJOVI is an Ivorian director, screenwriter and producer who first trained in theatre before specializing in screenwriting and audiovisual directing. His debut feature film, Innocent malgré tout, was selected for FESPACO in 2017. In 2020, he took part in Groupe Ouest’s writing development residency with L’Initié. A recipient of the Africa Pavilion award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, he also directed Le Fétiche, which received an award at the World Indie Film Awards and was broadcast on CANAL+ Afrique. Through his films, he explores questions of identity, transmission, beliefs and contemporary African memory. Le Collier is his latest fiction short film.

Le Collier (The Necklace)

In an Ivorian village in the 1980s, a young girl with dyslexia, humiliated for speaking her mother tongue at school, runs away into the forest, where a journey of self-discovery leads her to turn her shame into strength.

Biography

Senegalese filmmaker Ndeye Fatou MBOUP is a graduate of Kourtrajmé Afrique’s directing program. Her work is rooted in social and human realities. She co-wrote Sœurs d’encre and co-directed the short film Yadikoon, le petit prince. She has collaborated on a number of audiovisual productions and festivals, including Dakar Séries and Film Femme Afrique, where she serves as General Secretary. She is currently developing personal projects driven by strong storytelling and a collaborative approach.

The Shadow of the Sun

She’s called a ‘bad mother’ for leaving him, and a ‘bad influence’ for choosing a prostitute. Together, they’re going to take back what was stolen from them, and give their revenge a name.
